Samsung has launched a new low end budget friendly Android smartphone in Indian market i.e., Samsung Galaxy Star. At this point in time, none of the online stores have listed this smartphone but the company has stated that the smartphone is now available in stores across the India.

Samsung Galaxy Star features 3 inch TFT capacitive display with 320×240 QVGA resolutions, 2 megapixel camera at the back and 1 GHz processor which is based on ARM Cortex A5′s chipset. The device also packs 1200 mAh battery which is expected to give 14 hours of talktime and 320 hours of standby time.

On the connectivity front, it has bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi but lacks 3G. There is a 512 MB RAM which should be more than enough to do basic tasks. The performance with respect to gaming would definitely be not so impressive because of the 512 MB RAM.

Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Star runs on Android 4.1 jelly bean and Samsung’s TouchWiz UX UI. Though some of the feature are still missing from the stripped version of TouchWiz UX, it should be usable for general tasks.

Surprisingly, Lava has released Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its Android smartphone called Lava IRIS 501. The official announcement came from Lava’s official Facebook Fan Page. According to this announcement, the update is available in its service centers across the India. Lava IRIS 501 users will have to go to the service center to update their smartphone.

Although the update is not released Over To Air (OTA), the efforts from the company to deliver the latest Android version should be appreciated.

Lava IRIS 501 was originally launched with Android 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich. It features 5 inch display with WVGA resolutions, 1 GHz dual core processor and dual SIM support. It is currently selling for INR 7999. It is also packed with 512 MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 5 megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera.

The all new Android 4.1 jelly bean update is expected to bring user interface improvements, performance improvements and project butter to Lava IRIS 501. Don’t forget that Google Now will also be added once the update has reached Lava IRIS 501.

Recently, Facebook announced Facebook home, a new home replacement for Android smartphones but it did release the app for selected Android smartphones.

We recently talked about HTC Desire P and Desire Q being leaked online and today we have an official confirmation as HTC has launched HTC Desire P in its home-grown turf. In its initial phase, HTC has launched this device with telco Chunghwa Telecom. Although there is no word on when the smartphone would be made available in other markets, what we get to know is HTC Desire P would soon (within month) be available on other markets as well.

HTC Desire P packs specifications which are very much identical for a mid range Android smartphone. Most of the specifications are similar to that of HTC Desire SV except the fact that it has no 4G LTE support.

HTC Desire P features a beautiful 4.3 inch WVGA resolutions display, 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225 processor, 768 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, 8 megapixel rear camera, micro SD card slot, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 1620 mAh battery. We are not very much sure about the Android version but we expect to see Android 4.1 jelly bean on it.

HTC has priced the smartphone for approximately $365 (INR 20k ) and would be made available in coming days. There is still no word about the second leaked smartphone, HTC Desire Q.

The two devices HTC Desire P and Desire Q has been leaked with images and some specs. Though, the complete specs are still unknown. HTC desire P and Desire Q are mid range devices especially targeted for countries like India, China and Brazil. These devices are being launched just after HTC One and we are not sure if these devices will carry Sense 5.0 with blinkfeed.

Starting with the smaller device, the Desire Q will have a 4 inch display and average specs. Desire Q shell be available in black, red or white. There is a rumor that it shares the same specs as the HTC Desire P.

HTC Desire P has a 4.3 inch display with WVGA resolution. The device will have a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera. The memory will be further expandable via micro SD slot. The HTC Desire P is available in white or red for about $365 in China. That means it will be priced somewhere around INR. 20,000 in India.

The two devices HTC Desire P and Desire Q looks pretty much similar to the HTC Desire SV that was announced last year. Both the devices will be shipped with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. For now, these are mid range smartphones. We will update you when they get officially announced with full specs and details.

Waiting to receive Micromax A116 Canvas HD which you booked about a month ago?  There is a some good news for you! Micromax has started shipping Micromax A116 to the ones who had booked this smartphone after the sold out of first batch. According to the company, they had alerted their customers that shipping was delayed due to procedural issues.

Micromax affiliated snapdeal to handle the online stocks of Micromax A116 and they have also confirmed that they have received fresh stock from the company which they hope to deliver in the hands of their customers by the end of this month. If you’re the one who is waiting desperately to buy this smartphone then you’ve to wait for little longer. There is no word from the company about when the new stocks will be made available.

Although there is no information on the number of units that have been dispatched to snapdeal, what we do know is Snapdeal has sent an email to the customers who have ordered this smartphone between Feb 15 to Feb 18. Micromax had been finding itself in big trouble to cope out with the due orders. Both Micromax and Snapdeal have been apologizing on various social channels.

On the other related news, Micromax has increased price of Micromax A116 by INR 1000. The revised price of the device is now INR 14499 approx. and won’t be applicable to those who had ordered this device after first batch. The company has stated the reason as revised custom duty.

Micromax has also stated that they are sending carry bags with Micromax A116 to show their sign of apology and they are even ready to make full cash back if you don’t want to wait anymore.

Update- Micromax has informed Tech2 (origin of this report) that no such device is in the making and these reports are totally false.

A couple of months back, Micromax launched Micromax A116 Canvas HD which is still struggling to complete its back orders. The new rumors went over the internet about the Canvas 3 which were possibly wrong. The news is originating from Tech2.in.com which is reporting that one of their tipster has reported that Micromax will soon be launching Micromax A120 Canvas HD Pro which will be packed with 1080 pixels display or probably a full HD display with 13 megapixel camera.

The tipster from the tech2 has also sent in some more specifications about the smartphone which further reveals that Micromax A120 Canvas HD Pro will feature quad-core Cortex-A7 at 2 GHz clock-speed. Although the makers of this chipset is still not clear, it is expected that it will be MediaTek’s next generation CPU. Regarding the GPU, Micromax A120 Canvas Pro HD will feature PowerVR Series 5XT GPU with 2 GB of RAM.

According to the sources, Micromax A120 will sport 5.5 inch full HD display which will be protected by Gorilla glass. The primary camera will most probably be 13 megapixel with dual LED flash whereas secondary camera would be 3.2 megapixel which is one of the highest for the front camera. The Canvas Pro HD will have dual SIM support with 8 GB of internal storage and expandable up to 64 GB. Micromax A120 Canvas Pro HD will be powered by Android 4.2.1 and could possibly posses 3000 mAH battery.

Google has released a new rival to Evernote! From now on-wards, Google Keep will help you to create new notes onto your Android smartphone. The app’s main aim is very much similar to that of Evernote or S-Note which concentrates mainly on saving your thoughts in most easiest way.

If you’re an Android user from last 6 months then you would probably be knowing about the Swype Beta keyboard which adds elegant swipe to type feature to Android smartphones and tablets. Recently, Swype beta received an update to its keyboard which brought an extended support for language called Hindi. The new improvements have also added better editing options and few fixes to remove some minor bugs.

The most important part of this update was to bring support for couple of new languages named Hindi and Belgium Dutch. In the past, Swype had already added support for Hinglish which is a combination of some Hindi and English words. The actual support for Hindi was missing till the time. Now, users will be able to type in Hindi. Also, if you’re a swiftkey keyboard fan, then I must remind you that they have already added these languages on their keyboard.

Apart from these two new languages, company has added better editing options which termed as smart editing. It enables user to type with great speed with respect to the new improvements. The updated Swype also removes the bug which used to crash the keyboard on landscape mode. The other small fixes includes logo displacements and word choice behavior in Polaris office.

Karbonn has launched two entry level dual-sim Android phones named as Karbonn A3 and A4. Both the devices have Gingerbread flavor of Android. Recently Karbonn has announced Karbonn A6 with 4″ display and 1GHz processor. But Karbonn A3 and A4 are ultra low end devices priced at INR. 3,600 and INR. 4,990 respectively.

The Karbonn A3 is powered by a single core 1GHz cpu and 256MB of RAM. The device has dual-SIM capability with only 2G support. That means there is no 3G connectivity option in the device.
